About Kawamata Ichiryukaku
The images of the exterior and the baths’ descriptions.
You need to go downhill a little bit.
The building is surrounded by the greens. It looks like an one-story Ryokan, but it actually has five stories.
Kawamata Ichiryukaku is located along the river(in the most upstream area of Kinu River). They have two buildings, the main one is called Sansuikan and the newer one is called Sangakan.
When you enter the main building, there is a check-in desk on your right and you will find a lobby on the opossite side. You can see the river through the big windows in the lobby.
Free coffee is offered in the lobby.
Kawamata Ichiryukaku has
・ Konyoku outdoor bath
・ Women only outdoor bath
・ Three group reservation outdoor baths
・ Women only indoor bath
・ Men only indoor bath
There are 5 baths. They all use 100% natural hot spring water from two sources.
The Konyoku outdoor bath
As all outdoor baths are connected to a newer building, you need to walk in the hallway on the fifth floor where the lobby is in the main building to get there.
That will lead you to the seventh floor of the newer building, then you need to take the elevator in the back to go down to the first floor.
You just follow the sign “Outdoor baths”.
Once you go outside, there is a pathway with a roof.
Just keep going…
You will see a bath with the sign.
There is a shared dressing room along the river.
【The Konyoku outdoor bath ” Onoten Buro”】
The big stone tub is built along the river.
The bath is very spacious, and you will enjoy watching and listening to the water flow of the river and the view of the greens.
The hot spring water is clear(colorless), and the temperature is just right. However, as there is no shade, it can get quite hot in summer.
The women only outdoor bath
You need to pass the Konyoku bath to get to the women only bath. After you see the sign, take your left…
Use the stairs, and there is a dressing room.
【The women only outdoor bath】
The bath is smaller than Onoten Buro, but it is still spacious.
The views is as great.
The group reservation baths
The path to the group reservation baths is almost same as the Konyoku bath. Once you get out of the newer building on the first floor, you just take these stairs.
You will see three doors for the group reservation baths.
This is “Hinoki Buro”.
There is a dressing room behind the door.
【The group reservation bath① “Hinoki Buro”】
The Hinoki(桧木) tub accommodates two people. You can still enjoy the view of the river, but the view is not as nice as other baths.
Let’s try the next one.
After you open the door, you go downhill.
There is a dressing room as well.
【The group reservation② “Koiwa Buro”】
The sign on the door says “Awa Buro” , but this is actually “Koiwa Buro”.
The tub is made out of stones.
This bath also has a lovely view of the river and the trees.
Let’s try the last one “Iwa Buro”.
This bath has the biggest dressing room.
You go down along the gentle curve…
【The group reservation bath③”Iwa Buro”】
This one is not as close to the river as other two.
The bath has really large stones.
The tub is the largest among the three, and there is also a roof. If you do not want to get tanned, this is nice. However, the water temperature is not as high as other baths as it is in shade.
