Experience at Benten Onsen Ryokan
Images of the Benten Onsen Ryokan and the baths’ descriptions
The exterior looks pretty classic.
Then check-in desk is on your left.
There is a picture of a famous comedian Ken Shimura on the wall.
・ Five Konyoku(mixed bathing) outdoor baths
・ Women only bath
・ Men only bath
There are seven baths. They all use 100% natural hot spring water.
The indoor baths
The indoor baths are at the end of the hallway.
The interior looks classic, too.
There are lockers(100 yen), and the two indoor baths are next to each other.
There is a sink and a scale in the dressing room.
【The dressing room for the women only bath】
It accommodates 3～4 people.
It was still dark with lights on for some reason.
【The women only bath】
It was nice and steamy inside.
The bath tub had an interesting shape.
The water has milky color.
The water temperature is hot. The water felt nice and crisp.
There is shampoo, hair conditioner, and body soap.
The outdoor Konyoku baths
You need to use the stairs in the back of the indoor bath in order to go to outdoor Konyoku baths.
The area behind the door is already in Konyoku area.
【The men only bath】
I took the picture as the door was open(no one was inside).
The men only bath is twice as big as the women only bath.
There are five baths.
The one on your far right is made out of rocks, and it is the largest.
It must be very pretty in fall as there are maple trees.
The water is warm(not hot) It smells like iron. The water looked whitish green when I visited, but the owner said the color changed every day.
The second bath has a stone frog statue.
It is an adult frog and a baby frog.
The other three baths are very private.
It is a steam bath.
It is small and feels private.
The water is warm, but the flowing water was nice and hot. It was comfortable over all.
The next one is he barrel bath.
Isn’t it cool！
The bath is bright as there is no roof.
The tub is shallow, and the water temperature is just right. The wood feels nice to the touch.
Be careful as there is a parking lot next to the last Konyoku bath.
The last one is called a “husband and wife” bath.
The tubs are like two big clay pots.
The both tubs are filled with hot water. The water temperature is not too hot or too cool.
I actually did not have much expectations by looking at the exterior of the ryokan, however I enjoyed five different types of outdoor Konyoku baths.
The facility itself needs updating, and maybe not be fancy enough for a date, but there were still two couples when I visited.
The indoor bath felt the heaviest(more mineral?), and I also like the milky color.

You are allowed to wrap yourself with towels. It is pretty easy for women to use their Konyoku baths.
Three Konyoku baths have walls and it feels very private., therefore it should not be too difficult for women to use Konyoku baths while other guests are there.
